How much does it cost for a colic surgery?

November 26, 2009 by admin

I am worried that if my horse gets colic, we might not have enough money to pay for it. Can someone give me a price range please!? Thanks!

it can be VERY expensive for colic surgery. look into getting your horse insured or putting him/her on Strongid daily dewormer they have a program where if your buy Strongid from you vet and keep them UTD on shots and stuff you can enroll your horse in their Preventicare program and if your horse needs colic surgery they will cover up to $5000 for it. here’s the site look into it. Also make sure to do lots of reading and research on how to take care of your horse properly to prevent colic… simple things like deworming and feeding free choice hay reduce your horses risks of colic.
