How long would it take to see an improvement in colic in my baby from switching formulas?

December 2, 2009 by admin

I just switched my son from Similac advance to Similac Sensitive 24 hours ago. He seems a little better but not much yet. How long does it take to see the benefits from swithing if this formula is working to calm his colic?
The Similac Sensitive is lactose free and I’m trying it. At this point I’ll try anything.

Every child is different. It should only take a day or two to get the old formula out of his system, but then some babies need time to adjust to new formula. I could give my oldest any formula that was on sale without a problem…lol. However, my youngest had to adjust to new formula. But similac sensitive didn’t help the problem. I had to switch her to enfamil. Also, from working in daycare, often times the formula is not the problem…sometimes switching the bottle he uses works. Also, some parents would cut huge holes in the nipples of the bottles which can cause a lot of air intake…but I would wait a few days and then ask your doctor. He could tell you best!
